Question: Is it okay to get tattoos if they are of a Christian nature?

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. (1 Cor 10:23)
Thank God for Paul that 1 Cor 10:23 offers a kind leverage to live by especially when one is in a quandary about an issue.
Should the apocryphal Book of Enoch (Translated by R.H. Charles ) be referenced, the fall of the Watchers – the angels who fathered the Nephilim (cf. the bene Elohim, Genesis 6:1–2) – the ‘Names and Functions of the Seven Archangels’ may shed light on body art. Tattoos have their origin in the occult.
What more then, when liberal evangelicals like Spong and McLaren who defy the orthodox, have a Bentley as a proud canvas of ‘Christian’ tattoo? Shall ‘Prophetic Tattoo & Piercing Interpretation’ be the next latter-day sensation of a Spirit-empowered gift? Or have we deconstructed the Gospel for another Jesus, a different spirit and a different gospel (2 Cor 11:4)?
A mystery and a wild olive branch is what the Church is in the age of grace, and pushing it. Kudos then to the Jew of Old for striving to keep the Law and, despite their failures, eventually delivered the Messiah Yeshua.
Ps. No holier-than-thou.
