The Spiritual Landscape by L.S. James
With a famine of the Word via an absence of expository preaching and teaching these days, bible illiteracy has numbed the Lord’s sheep to core truths if only to cajole them into every wind of false doctrine peddled by deviant teachers. Kindly be discerning then of these unbiblical teachings and cryptic practices that many have unwittingly embraced as truth whilst Judeo-Christian buzzwords like sin, repentance, fear of the LORD, Judgment Seat of Christ, Great White Throne, are all but rare if not absent from the pulpit ministry let alone the vernacular of today’s postmodern believer. For when experience usurps dogma, mysticism for spirituality, works for salvation, relativism for absolutes, what blights a believer’s psyche is a different gospel, a different spirit and another Jesus (2 Cor 11:4; Gal 1; Matt 13:25). If there be anything biblical in this, it may affirm the strong delusion as God-sent (2 Thess 2:10-13) perhaps to those that desire novelty. Leaders of the church of yesteryear and today need give a greater account for this before the Judgment Seat of Christ if not the Great White Throne should they have all been but hireling shepherds. Therefore, know your affiliates and your unwitting predicament amidst their ilk.
For it is a crying shame that since the Lord’s ascension in AD 32, followed by Pentecost that birthed the Church, the mysticism that soon plagued her has inundated the Church with fallacies to this day (Matthew 24-27; Revelation 1-3). And just as conjured parallels between Judaism and Islam seem amazing, amazing yet is one who preaches Jesus with a different gospel (2 Corinthians 11:4) and misses Him entirely! But should the scales fall from the eyes of the deluded, they will vomit the filth fed by these hireling shepherds that have crept in unawares to pollute every nook and cranny of the body of Christ. And should the defining moment have us face our nemesis, take heart: For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works (2 Corinthians 11: 13-15). Never mind the gainsayers, should it baffle us when some make a defense of their pet heretic if only to confirm their delusion? Know that for every gainsayer, there are dozens more who are unbending in the pure Word of God. NB. We, like sheep that have gone astray, shall one day bear account as to why we gravitated toward a one world religion and a one world government that is altogether Antichrist! Was not the Church warned by John the Revelator (AD 95) of her plunge into apostasy (Rev 1-4)? I can put up signs to warn you but no further than the fiery Pit. There will be blood and some will burn! Church experience has gone from holy to harrowing to harassment! Ichabod–the glory has departed!’
Make no mistake, Scripture itself sets the premise to expose false apostles, deceitful workers. Paul in guarding His flock with godly jealousy exposed the charlatans of his day – that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting (Ephesians 4:14). But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!…But what I do, I will also continue to do, that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the things of which they boast. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works (2 Corinthians 11:3, 4; 12-15. For the named, see 2 Timothy 1:15; 2:17; 3:8; 4:10, 14, 15).
No sooner then that John too raised the alarm on end time frauds. Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also..These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (1 John 2:18-23; 26, 27)
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world (1 John 4:1).
For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. (2 John 7-11)
I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting [them] out of the church (3 John 1:9, 10).
