The Rabbi

You are the teacher of Your people
A Jew of great devise
The Savior of the Hebrews
That saved a Gentile damned as I

But Jewish hate let Legacy
Cast her evil eye
They nailed You high upon that tree:
Cursed, disfigured and despised

Despite the Law they held so zealously
They watched You wail and die
Despite the Law they held so zealously
The age of grace arrived

Are we, the latter, now Your people
The Jew to be denied?
The cross atop the highest steeple
Is but mangled truth and hype!

This God that homes in on a fever
Is tampered with at length
He’ll dance a jig and whisper to you,
“I’ll buddy-up as friend.”

How’s this now for a savior:
He bends to sinful men
To every filthy flavor
He deals a sweet amen!

The Law of Moses warned you
A Prophet-King was sent
The wrath of God will hold you
Accountable and bent

O God, have mercy on our souls
We’re still but sinful men
With senses few and far from honed
We’ve held You in contempt
